Rawwadids

   The Rawwadids were a minor dynasty of northwestern Persia, which flourished from approximately 758 (when the governor of Azerbaijan appointed Al-Rawwad bin al-Muthanna to secure the area) until the Selcuk Turks took the region after 1071. The Rawwadids were originally Arabs but gradually became Kurdicized by their environment. They began, for example, to use Kurdish word forms such as Mamlan for Muhammad and Ah-madil for Ahmad in their genealogy. Survivors of the dynasty can be traced up to Mongol Il-Khanid in the early 14th century.
